On July 4, the 2024 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC 2024) and the High-Level Meeting on Global Governance of Artificial Intelligence opened in Shanghai. Rino.ai showcased its R5 Series new model at the WAIC driverless experience event.
Meanwhile, on July 5, the Driverless Equipment Application Innovation Ecosystem Conference was held. At the conference, the Traffic Police Detachment of the Pudong Branch of the Shanghai Public Security Bureau awarded Rino.ai and other companies the first batch of driverless equipment identification plates in Shanghai. This marks an important milestone in the application of driverless equipment in Pudong New Area and across China, signaling a move toward standardized and large-scale deployment.
A Key Industry Gathering Focused on Driverless Equipment
As one of the key forums of WAIC 2024, the Ecosystem Conference is a professional industry event centered on driverless equipment, bringing together stakeholders from across the sector in Pudong to discuss policies, technologies, and application trends.
Dr. Xia Tian, CTO of Rino.ai and a veteran expert with over a decade of experience in autonomous driving R&D, was invited to attend and delivered a keynote speech titled “Driving Driverless Equipment Toward High-Speed Development.”
Insights on the Path to Rapid Development
In his speech, Dr. Xia analyzed the drivers behind the rapid development of driverless equipment and outlined the two main development paths for today’s autonomous driving technologies. He also detailed Rino.ai’s direction for technological iteration.
Currently, Rino.ai has established a data-driven autonomous driving iteration model and supporting infrastructure. This model has been validated not only through technology but also by the market.
In fact, with over four years of commercialization experience, Rino.ai’s driverless vehicle products have achieved large-scale deployment in more than 30 cities nationwide.
Since launching its first-generation driverless logistics vehicle in May 2020 and putting it into commercial operation, Rino.ai has released four generations of models, with hundreds of vehicles operating daily and accumulating nearly 10 million kilometers of L4 autonomous driving mileage.
As Rino.ai’s technology continues to evolve and mature, its products will see expanded application and commercialization across more cities, sectors, and diverse scenarios.
